So, I went to the mailbox today and lo and behold, there was a vote-by-mail application from the Ohio GOP.
What makes this humorous is the application itself.
Would that I could scan it.... the scanner has not recovered from the power outage.
It reads on the front: "No terrorist attacks on American soil since September II. (editor's note, I know they meant to put 11th, but they actually have it printed as II, kinda like Rocky...I mean, I know Sylvester Stallone endorsed McCain and all, but do they really do think people are that stupid. Even weirder given the Roman numerals looks like architectural columns, something I thought they were AGAINST this year.)
On the inside it says, in part, "Use your vote to keep America safe." "Vote Republican", along with some scary stuff about Democrats...."will negotiate with terrorists", etc.
Now, what makes this REALLY humorous is that it was sent to my husband. He is a single-issue voter just about every year. That single issue is voting against Republicans. I don't think he would vote for a Republican for dog-catcher if they affiliated with parties. The only difference this year is his level of ire. I can seldom watch political news without a running commentary from him.
Now, say what you want about Keith Olbermann, but he is dead-on about the "branding of September 11th"... It's a shame that an entity the size and the breadth of the Ohio GOP chose to not only exploit that national tragedy, but to do so with a typo as well. I should pack this thing up and send it to K.O.
Plan of action for me is to drop a line to info@ohiogop.org and ask them to not only remove my address from their mailing list but to destroy, at their expense, all of the unmailed applications with this typo. Walter Reed Middle School was just the beginning, I guess... good help being hard to find and all.
I know... not much for a diary, but I just had to share...
Editor's note: I realize my username pegs me in Florida, but that was then, now I am in Ohio.
